A good cake is so uplifting from time to time! Some people swear by chocolate flavor, while others have a preference for bananas. And for others, choosing between these two options is a real nightmare!

But there is an ideal solution in the world of baking. Why not simply marry chocolate and banana?

The chocolate banana bread is the perfect variant between homemade banana bread and a chocolate brownie. This quick bread is bursting with chocolate flavor!

List of ingredients:

1/2 cup (67 g) of all-purpose flour

1/2 cup (55 g) of unsweetened cocoa powder

1 teaspoon (5 g) baking soda

1/2 teaspoon (2.5 g) baking powder

1/2 cup (125 g) softened butter

1/4 cup (50 g) of packed brown sugar

1/2 cup (117 g) granulated sugar

2 eggs

1 1/3 cup (335 g) of mashed bananas (about 4 small bananas)

1 cup (250 g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

1/4 cup (65 ml) half-and-half (half milk, half cream)

2 tablespoons (24 g) of packed brown sugar

1 teaspoon (5 g) butter

1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) vanilla extract

1/3 cup (85 g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Preparation:

1. Preheat the oven to 350° F (180°C).

2. Generously grease a 9 x 5 inch loaf pan with nonstick cooking spray.

3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.

4. In a medium mixing bowl, beat together butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar with an electric mixer until light and fluffy.

5. Blend in the eggs and mashed bananas.

6. Pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture and mix. Add the chocolate chips.

7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake in the preheated oven for 50 to 60 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool.

8. Heat the half-and-half and brown sugar in a medium saucepan over medium heat, until the sugar is dissolved and the mix begins to bubble at the edges, stirring often.

9. Stir in the butter and vanilla until smooth.

10. Remove the saucepan from the heat and add the chocolate chips, whisking until melted.

11. Pour this chocolate glaze into a small bowl and let it cool completely. 12. When the glaze has cooled, pour it over the banana chocolate bread.
