Ingredients

For the sauce:

  • 1 1/4 cup of 35% cream 
  • 3/4 cup of maple syrup 
  • 3/4 cup of brown sugar

For the cake:

  • 1 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour 
  • 2 tsp of baking powder 
  • 1/2 tsp of nutmeg
  • A pinch of salt 
  • 1/4 cup of butter, room temperature 
  • 1/2 cup of sugar 
  • 1 egg at room temperature 
  • 1 cup of milk 
  • 1 cup of apples, peeled and diced small

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and butter a 9 x 13-inch dish.
  2. In a saucepan, heat the cream, maple syrup, and brown sugar. Set aside.
  3. In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, nutmeg, and salt. 
  4. In another bowl, whisk the butter and sugar until the mixture whitens. 
  5. Add the egg, whisk again, then alternately add the dry ingredients and the milk. 
  6. Add the apples and pour into the baking dish. 
  7. Gently pour the sauce over the dough, without stirring.
  8. Bake for 50 minutes. Let cool for 15 minutes before serving.
