And you, how do you store your ketchup?
There are sometimes debates in kitchens. For example, some advocate for butter on the counter while others swear by the fridge. This existential question also arises regarding ketchup!
There is also the 'cupboard' team and the 'refrigerator' team for this tomato sauce that has been present in virtually all households for decades.
Now, the giant Heinz has decided to speak out on the subject in a Twitter post. And according to the company, its ketchup should be kept in the fridge. Its very simple and short post read "FYI: ketchup goes in the refrigerator!!!".
All ketchup lovers, however, do not agree with the manufacturer. The tiny "tweet" garnered over 14,000 "likes" and more than 700 comments in two days.
Heinz Tomato Ketchup spokesperson Olivia Lennon said: "There is only one correct answer. We want all Heinz ketchup lovers to know that our ketchup is made to be kept in the refrigerator".

She continued: "We know that many of you keep your ketchup in the cupboard. But if you want to keep its tangy and delicious taste intact, you must refrigerate it after opening".
The company mentions that an unopened bottle can very well be kept at room temperature, but once it is opened, the fridge is suggested since tomatoes are quite acidic and the cold helps preserve the flavor.
Regardless of the ketchup specialist's opinion, several consumers have indicated that they will not change their habit and their bottle will remain outside the fridge.

One user wrote: "No, the refrigerator is out of the question. Focus on the preparation, and I'll take care of the tasting".
Another said: "Who needs a refrigerator? I always keep my ketchup in my pocket. You never know when you're going to need ketchup for a snack".
Another, resolute in their opinion, mentioned: "Heinz doesn't even know where its product belongs!" Harsh.
Several asserted themselves with phrases like
"The refrigerator? No, my ketchup goes in the cupboard or on the counter." Sticking to their beliefs, for sure.
So, the company's publication has not put an end to the debate, quite the contrary!
And you? Where do you store your precious ketchup?
