We know potato fries, sweet potato fries… But have you ever thought of turnip fries?

Turnip fries have half the calories of classic fries. Besides being healthier, they are delicious!

Try them this week! You'll see, it's very easy!

Enjoy your meal!

Ingredients:

2 medium-sized turnips or rutabagas

1/4 cup (65 ml) olive oil

1 teaspoon (5 g) paprika

1 teaspoon garlic salt, 1 teaspoon (5 g) onion salt

Salt and pepper from the mill

Preparation:

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and add a little oil.
  3. Peel the turnips and cut into julienne strips.
  4. Place the julienne strips in a bowl.
  5. Add olive oil, ensuring the fries are well coated.
  6. Add paprika, garlic salt, onion salt, and salt and pepper from the mill.
  7. Spread the fries on the baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 15 minutes. Turn the fries and bake for another 10 minutes.

Serve with the condiment of your choice.

Suggestion: a maple mayonnaise, for which here is the recipe:

Ingredients:

2 tablespoons (30 ml) maple vinegar or cider vinegar

1 egg yolk

1 tablespoon (15 ml) Dijon mustard

1 cup (250 ml) canola oil

2 tablespoons (30 ml) maple syrup

pepper from the mill

salt

Preparation:

  1. In a bowl, whisk together vinegar, egg yolk, Dijon mustard, and salt.
  2. Gradually add canola oil.
  3. When the mayonnaise begins to thicken, add maple syrup and pepper.
  4. Continue whisking to the desired consistency.

The mayonnaise can be stored in the refrigerator for a few days.
