Lacking inspiration for weeknight dinners? Then why not prepare these delicious stuffed peppers that are both flavorful and easy to make ? 

Simply hollow out 6 green peppers and fill them with tender ground beef, Italian sausage, white rice, tomatoes, onion, garlic, and spices, then gratinate them for a completely delightful meal that all family members will enjoy! 

So without further ado, here’s how to prepare this tasty recipe ready in no time:

INGREDIENTS

  • 6 green peppers
  • 1/2 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 lb Italian sausage
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 can of 14 oz and 1/2 chopped tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup of uncooked white rice
  • 1 cup and 1/4 of water
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 cup and 1/2 marinara sauce
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese 

STEPS

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 °F while preparing the recipe. 
  2. Cut the tops off the green peppers and set aside. Remove the seeds and membranes and discard them. Dice the tops of the peppers to add to the filling later.

  1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil and cook the peppers for 5 minutes. Remove and drain. 
  2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef, Italian sausage, onion, and garlic over medium heat until the meat is fully cooked. Drain the excess fat from the skillet. 
  3. Add the chopped tomatoes with the juice, uncooked white rice, 1 cup and 1/4 of water, diced pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and Italian seasoning to the skillet. 
  4. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and cover. Allow to cook for 15 to 20 minutes until the rice is tender. Add more water if necessary.

  1. Spread 1 cup and 1/2 of marinara sauce in the bottom of a 9x13 pyrex dish. Using a spoon, fill the 6 green peppers with the rice mixture. Divide the remaining cup of marinara sauce among the peppers by pouring over the top. 
  2. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for about 35 minutes. Remove the aluminum foil, then brush the peppers with a bit of marinara sauce from the bottom of the dish. Sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese and bake for another 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the peppers are tender. Enjoy!
