
The good old way of making it, with a warm vanilla sauce, will always remain the best!
A classic that never goes out of style, here, we always love it.
Ingredients
4 cups (8 slices) white bread cubes
1/2 cup raisins
2 cups milk
1/4 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs slightly beaten
1 tablespoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Vanilla Sauce
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup 35% cream
1 tablespoon vanilla
How to make it:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees f and butter a 9 x 13-inch dish.
In a bowl, mix the bread and raisins.
In a saucepan, combine the milk and 1/4 cup butter. Heat until the butter is melted (4 minutes).
Pour the milk mixture over the bread and let sit 10 minutes.
Stir in all other ingredients.
Pour into the prepared dish and sprinkle with walnuts.
Bake in the oven for 40 to 50 minutes.
In a saucepan, combine all sauce ingredients, except for the vanilla. Heat, stirring occasionally, until the mixture thickens and reaches a full boil (5 to 8 minutes).
Remove from heat and add the vanilla.
Pour over the hot pudding.
