The only thing you need to worry about is whether there's any milk left in the jug!
INGREDIENTS
- 2 cups of flour
- 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon of ground ginger
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup granulated sugar, divided
- 12 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 1/4 cup dark molasses
- 1 egg
PREPARATION
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
- Remove 3 tablespoons from the cup of sugar and set aside for rolling the dough balls later.
- In a bowl, mix together the flour, cinnamon, ginger, baking soda, cloves, and salt. Set aside.
- In another bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and creamy, about 3-5 minutes.
- Scrape down the bowl with a spatula, then add the molasses and egg. Beat for 2 minutes.
- Set the mixer to low speed, then slowly add the dry mixture, beating until smooth.
- Form dough balls of about 1 tablespoon each.
- Roll each ball in the reserved sugar and place on the cookie sheets 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 9 to 10 minutes.
- Cool completely on the baking sheets before transferring to wire racks.
