Seasoned to perfection, this sauce is by far one of the best.
Ingredients
- 1 ½ pounds of ground beef or ground pork
- 1 chopped onion
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, chopped
- 3 (15-ounce) cans of diced tomatoes
- 1 (6-ounce) can of tomato paste
- 2 teaspoons brown sugar
- 1 ½ teaspoons dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon dried basil
- ½ teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 bay leaf
- 2 cups beef broth
Preparation
- In a large pot, cook the meat, onion, green bell pepper, and garlic until the meat is browned and the vegetables are tender.
- Drain the fat and stir in the tomatoes, tomato paste, brown sugar, oregano, salt, basil, thyme, and bay leaf.
- Add the beef broth.
- Bring to a boil and let simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours.
