It's Mother's Day, let's take the opportunity to cook the dishes that made us so happy when we were kids...
INGREDIENTS
- 1 1/2 pounds of ground beef
- 1 3/4 cups of macaroni, uncooked
- 1 medium can (540 ml) of diced stewed tomatoes (Aylmer)
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 tablespoon of paprika
- Salt and ground black pepper
- 2 tbsp of tomato paste
- 2 tbsp of soy sauce
- 1 tbsp of Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon of dried basil
- 2 tbsp of chili powder
- 3 bay leaves
- 2 1/4 cups of water
PREPARATION
- Place a saucepan over medium-high heat and brown the ground beef. Drain excess fat.
- Add the onions and garlic.
- Sauté until they are translucent and fragrant, about 2 - 3 minutes.
- Pour in the water and tomatoes.
- Add the paprika, chili powder, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, tomato paste, basil, bay leaf, pepper, and salt. Stir.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and let simmer gently for 20-25 minutes.
- Add the macaroni. Stir.
- Put the lid back on and let simmer over low heat for an additional 20 minutes, until the noodles are Al dente.
- Serve with a piece of buttered bread, yum!
