This week we're taking the time to cook one of the dishes that made us so happy when we were kids... the classic meat macaroni! A simple recipe to make but will bring joy to everyone.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 1/2 pounds of ground beef
  • 1 3/4 cups of macaroni, uncooked
  • 1 medium can (540 ml) of diced stewed tomatoes (Aylmer)
  • 2 cloves of garlic, chopped
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon of paprika
  • Salt and ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons of tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons of soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon of dried basil
  • 2 tablespoons of chili powder
  • 3 bay leaves
  • 2 1/4 cups of water

PREPARATION

  1. Place a pot over medium-high heat and brown the ground beef. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add the onions and garlic.
  3. Sauté until they are translucent and fragrant, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Pour in the water and tomatoes.
  5. Add the paprika, chili powder, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, tomato paste, basil, bay leaves, pepper, and salt. Stir.
  6. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and let simmer gently for 20-25 minutes.
  7. Add the macaroni. Stir.
  8. Cover again and let simmer on low heat for an additional 20 minutes, until the noodles are al dente.
  9. Serve with a piece of buttered bread, yum!
