If you love shrimp and pasta, this dish will immediately make your mouth water. 

Ultra easy to prepare in about 30 minutes, the recipe yields 4 servings that you will enjoy even on weekday dinners.

The shrimp are perfectly cooked in a delicious butter, garlic, and white wine sauce, giving them an absolutely exquisite taste. Serve them over a bed of fine pasta like angel hair or spaghetti, and you're done!


Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons (60 ml) of butter, divided
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of olive oil
  • 3-5 cloves of garlic, minced (about 2 tablespoons (30 ml), or to taste)
  • ½ teaspoon (2.5 ml) of red pepper flakes or to taste
  • ½ cup (125 ml) of dry white wine
  • Salt, to taste
  • Ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 lb (454 g) of large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • Zest and juice of 1 lemon
  • ¼ cup (65 ml) of chopped parsley leaves
  • 8 ounces (227 g) of fine pasta, cooked (angel hair, spaghetti, or linguine), and pasta cooking water
  • ¼ cup (65 ml) of grated Parmesan cheese (optional)


Preparation

In a large pan over medium heat, pour half of the butter with olive oil. Heat up.

Add minced garlic and pepper flakes and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.

Add white wine, salt, and black pepper and let simmer. Allow the mixture to simmer for 2-3 minutes until it is reduced by about half.

Add shrimp to the pan and cook, stirring often, until they are well cooked (about 2 to 4 minutes, depending on the size of the shrimp).

Add lemon zest over the shrimp.

Then, add lemon juice and the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter, and mix to combine the ingredients.

Add chopped parsley.

Taste and adjust seasoning with more salt, lemon juice, or more pepper flakes, if desired. 

If desired, adjust the sauce's consistency with a bit of pasta cooking water. 

Serve shrimp and sauce over pasta and top with Parmesan, if desired.
