A ground pork meatball, prepared in the General Tao style... Hmm why not!
Ingredients
(for 60 meatballs)
- 2 pounds ground pork
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, chopped
- 7 chopped green onions
- 4 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup oats
- 2 eggs
- Salt and pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
Sauce:
- 3/4 cup chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 4 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, chopped
- Salt and pepper

Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 400 F. On a baking sheet, place a foil and grease it.
- In a large bowl, add pork, ginger, onions, garlic, breadcrumbs, oats, eggs, salt, pepper, and pepper flakes.
- Using a tablespoon, form balls and add them to your prepared sheet.
- Bake in the oven for 25 minutes, the inside should reach 160 degrees f.
For the sauce
- In a small saucepan with a bit of olive oil, add garlic and ginger, cook for 1 minute.
- In a bowl, mix 1/2 cup chicken broth, tomato paste, soy sauce, vinegar, sesame oil, sugar, salt, pepper, and pepper flakes.
- Pour into the saucepan and bring to a boil.
- Mix the remaining 1/4 cup broth and cornstarch, pour into the pan and let simmer for 3 to 4 minutes, or until the sauce thickens.
- Remove from heat and pour the sauce over the meatballs, garnish with green onions.
