A ground pork meatball, prepared in the style of General Tao... Hmm why not!
Ingredients
(for 60 meatballs)
- 2 pounds of ground pork
- 1 tablespoon of fresh ginger, chopped
- 7 chopped green onions
- 4 cloves of garlic, chopped
- 1/4 cup of breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup of oats
- 2 eggs
- Salt and pepper
- ¼ teaspoon of red pepper flakes
Sauce:
- 3/4 cup of chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 2 tablespoons of soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons of rice wine vinegar
- 1 teaspoon of sesame oil
- 3 tablespoons of sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 4 cloves of garlic, chopped
- 1 teaspoon of fresh ginger, chopped
- Salt and pepper

Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 400 F. On a baking sheet, place an aluminum foil and grease it.
- In a large bowl, add the pork, ginger, onions, garlic, breadcrumbs, oats, eggs, salt, pepper, and pepper flakes.
- Using a tablespoon, form balls and add them to your prepared sheet
- Bake for 25 minutes, the inside should reach 160 degrees f.
For the sauce
- In a small saucepan with a bit of olive oil, add the garlic and ginger, cook for 1 minute.
- In a bowl, mix 1/2 cup of chicken broth, tomato paste, soy sauce, vinegar, sesame oil, sugar, salt, pepper, and pepper flakes.
- Pour into the saucepan and bring to a boil.
- Mix the remaining 1/4 cup of broth and cornstarch, pour into the pan and let simmer for 3 to 4 minutes, or until the sauce thickens.
- Remove from heat and pour the sauce over the meatballs, garnish with green onions.
