The taste of caramelized onions mixed with that of fresh pork, it's so good!

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 bone-in pork chops (1 inch thick)
  • Salt and black pepper
  • Brown sugar (optional)
  • 2 knobs of butter
  • 1-2 large onions, sliced (about 3 cups)
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • ¼ cup apple cider
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 - 3 tablespoons cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons cold water

PREPARATION

  • Season the chops with salt and pepper and sear them in a buttered hot pan on both sides. Place in the slow cooker.
  • Add butter to the pan and add the onions. Cook until they begin to brown, about 3-5 minutes.
  • Add herbs, chicken broth, apple cider, soy sauce, and Worcestershire sauce to deglaze.
  • Be sure to scrape up the golden bits from the bottom of the pan. Pour the cooking liquid and onions over the pork chops in the slow cooker.
  • Cook for 4 to 5 hours on low or 2 to 3 hours on high intensity.
  • Remove the cooked pork chops from the slow cooker and place them on a plate.
  • Whisk the cornstarch and water mixture into the cooking liquid.
  • Return the chops to the slow cooker and cook until the sauce is thick and the chops are tender, about 30 to 60 minutes on high intensity.
