You use mouthwash as part as your healthy mouth hygiene routine, but did you know that the products has many other uses? It is indeed a great product and you might be really surprised by all the ways you can use it! See the 10 unusual ways to use mouthwash below. 


1. Quickly refresh

You can eliminate odours and kill bacteria by using a cotton ball damped with mouthwash over your armpits! This is a great way to refresh during the way or after a workout. Tip: In a small plastic bag, fill with a travel size mouthwash and cotton balls to refresh on-the-go!

2. Clean your toothbrush

To clean your toothbrush, simply submerge your toothbrush in a jar filled with just mouthwash. Let is soak overnight and in the morning you will a fresh and clean toothbrush.


3. Keep flowers longer 
The antiseptic properties of mouthwash can reduce the bacteria present and help extend the life of your cut flowers! Pour about a  capful of mouthwash into the vase with your flowers.


4. Clean the toilet
Pour 1 cup of mouthwash into the toilet bowl and let it sit for 30 minutes. Then, quickly swipe with a toilet brush to have your toilet sparkle!


5. Have a pedicure at home

To have soft feet just like at the the nail salon, create a magic soak for your feet with mouthwash. Combine, 1 cup of mouthwash with 1 cup apple cider vinegar and 2 cups of water. Let your feet soak in the mixture and gently scrub afterwards. 



6. Create a bug repellent

Make your own mosquito repellent by pouring a minty flavoured mouthwash into a spray bottle! Spray the outdoors with the mouthwash for bug-free playtime. TIP: Avoid whitening mouthwashes ⁠ as they might whiten your clothing.



7. Eliminate ants

Kill and repel ants  from your home by mixing mouthwash, hydrogen peroxide, and dish soap together in equal parts. Pour into a spray bottle and spray it on areas where you see the ants. Leave it to soak for up to 15 minutes and wipe up the remaining spray and any ants. This mixture is totally safe to use in homes with children and pets!



8. Fight the odours coming from the washing machine 

To remove the musty smells from your washing machine use 1/2 cup antiseptic mouthwash in an empty load cycle. This will help clean and disinfect your washer.


9. Disinfect clothing

Use 1 cup of mouthwash in a load of dirty clothes to help disinfect and eliminate harmful bacteria from the clothing. It is best to pick an antiseptic mouthwash without artificial coloring to protect your clothes.



10. Help with itching 

Antiseptic mouthwash can provide relief itching associated with bug bites and rashes because of its cooling sensation. Also, alcohol in mouthwash may help heal rashes by helping to dry them out! Simply use a cotton ball damped with mouthwash and dab it on the affected area as needed.
