Most of our cleaning habits were passed on to us by our parents, who in turn received them from their parents.
Because cleaning is almost like a tradition! Most of us do not wonder too much about the best or efficient processes. It’s been that way forever and that’s simply how things are!
But what if we told you that your mom or dad was wrong in the way they clean?
Yes, there is a lot to process here!
Your parents weren't doing it that badly. Let's say there are more efficient ways to do it!
If you want to know them (and test them in secret from your parents!), Read this:
1. Blender
You don't need to separate each part of your mixer to clean it! Be a little more lazy! Rinse your blender, then fill it with hot water. Pour a drop of dish soap and press the "on". Rinse and here is your clean blender, ready for your next smoothie!
2. Cast iron pans
Believe it or not, cast iron should not be washed with soap and water. What you really need to do is scrub with a mixture of coarse salt and water to get rid of stubborn food residue. Then dry thoroughly and apply a thin layer of oil before storing.
3. Cutting boards
Wooden cutting boards, in particular, can trap food debris in their cracks. So dish soap can get stuck in it too! What you have to do is cut a lemon in half, add coarse salt and rub along the tray to dislodge the particles. Then proceed to wash with soap and water.
4. Cookie sheets
The shiny plates when they are new quickly become repulsive after a few uses ... So make a mixture of 1/4 cup (65 g) of baking soda and enough hydrogen peroxide to create a good paste, then rub it in. it on your cookie sheets and baking tins. Let sit for a few hours then rinse. It is like magic!
5. Oven
Stop scrubbing your oven for hours! Instead, make a paste using water and baking soda. Then, spread the paste all around the inside of your oven. Let it sit overnight, then wipe off a damp cloth to remove as much of the baking soda mixture as possible. Then spray vinegar inside your oven and wipe it down with a damp cloth.
Finally, heat the oven on low heat for about 20 minutes to dry it.
6. Paintings/Art
Over time, the works of art displayed on our walls all get dusty! To solve the problem, just rub half of a bagel on a painting to pick up all the accumulated dust!
7. Blinds
Slatted blinds are handy, but not a lot of fun to clean! Try this:
Dip an old sock in a mixture of vinegar and water and wipe down each blade. So easy! And to dry your blinds, just take the old (dry) sock companion!
8. Toys
Instead of boring yourself to death washing each children's toy individually, collect all the hard plastic ones and give them a ride in the dishwasher!
9. Coffee machine
When your coffee starts to taste 'weird', it's time to give the coffee maker a deep clean.
To do this, fill the tank halfway with water and half vinegar. Then start a half-infusion cycle (without coffee grounds) and let sit for an hour.
One hour later, complete the brew cycle. Empty your coffee maker, then run a cycle with fresh water and repeat until there is no more vinegar smell.
10. Cheese grater
Stop shredding sponges and rags while trying to clean the cheese grater. After grating your cheese, take a potato and start grating it. The oxalic acid in potatoes quickly picks up cheese residue. And you will have grated potatoes for a future recipe!
11. Microwave
Stop wasting time scrubbing your microwave to try to loosen sticky spills. Instead, fill a bowl with water and vinegar and heat it on high for at least two minutes. Your device will be hot and humid and the dirt will come off with a wipe!
12. Mattresses
Mattresses are hard to clean, but they don't really have to be! First, vacuum it to remove any crumbs or dust. Then sprinkle baking soda to cover all of the top of the mattress. Let sit for a few hours then vacuum up the baking soda. That's all!
13. Shower head
Soap on and wipes won't unclog or actually clean it the shower head.
Here's the right way: Pour white vinegar into a plastic bag and clip it around your shower head for an hour. Wipe it down with a damp cloth and it will be like new.
14. Toothbrushes
You should change your toothbrush every 2 or 3 months, but also clean it in the meantime. Take a clean cup and fill it with white vinegar. Let your brush sit in this mixture for a few hours and it will be less disgusting!
15. Toaster
If all you do to clean your toaster is shake it, you are wrong. The exterior of your toaster needs a little attention too. Take a little cream of tartar and water and rub in so that your toaster shines like in those early days!
