Here are 6 easy tips to help with hair loss.
1. Add protein to your diet.
Hair follicles are mostly composed of keratin which is a protein. That is why you should add more protein into your diet! Try to consume more lentils, soybeans, beans, seeds, nuts, eggs, fish, peas and poultry.
2. Add biotin to your diet.
Biotin is a vitamin that play a major role in the growth of healthier and thicker hair. There are studies showing that biotin produces a signifiant increase in hair growth in people with a deficiency.
It is recommended to take between 30 mcg to 100 mcg of it a day, but you should consult with your doctor before taking any supplements.
You can also add biotin-rich foods into your diet; eggs, nuts, legumes, whole grains, bananas, cauliflower, mushrooms and chicken liver or kidney.
3. Style your hair properly.
You should favour loose hairstyles over tight braids or ponytails. These will pull on your hair and put unnecessarily stress on your hair. Also, try to avoid stylish creams or products that will add weight to your hair.
Heat should be avoided for styling your hair; that means to put away curling wands and straightening irons! Try to use rollers or air dry your hair.
Finally, do not brush your hair when wet, but rather wait until hair is completely dry. This will help prevent hair loss.
4. Use essential oil.
Some essential oils such as cedar wood can help reduce hair loss by balancing the oil-producing glands in your scalp. Use a mixture of cedar wood essential oil with a carrier oil (jojoba or grapeseed) and massage into your scalp. Then, wash your hair as you normally would.
5. Onion hair mask.
Believe it or not, onions are great for you hair! They contain folic acid, vitamins B, C and E, zinc, magnesium and carotene. All of these vitamins help regrow the hair.
To make an onion hair mask at home, grate an onion to help release the juice. Using a clean cotton pad, dap some of the onion juice and apply to your hair. Leave for around 30 minutes then wash your hair. You can do this mask twice a week.
6. Reduce your stress level.
Stress is a factor of hair loss and reducing your stress level can help reduce the excessive shedding. Try to practice yoga or meditation to keep your stress level low, whatever works for you!
