Doug Hayes was out celebrating his 59th birthday with his wife Amy, when she asked him what he had on his bucket list before turning 60 years old. The man didn't know what to answer at the time, but after thinking about it for around three weeks he knew - he wanted a bus!
But not any bus, Hayes explains:
"I want a bus so I can go around every morning, pick up all the grandkids, and drive them to school before I go to work. Just a small bus. We’d sing songs, talk, and it would be something unforgettable they did with their grandfather. If money were no object, I’d want a bus."
The granddad decided to make his wish a reality and he got the “The Grandfather Express” ! Hayes has 10 grandkids and 5 who already go to school the other half will be attending in the near future. The school the kids go to don't have school bus service so usually the parents just drive their kids to school, but not Doug's grandkids! He started driving them in the Grandfather Express after Christmas break.
Doug lives about 3 miles from the school so he drives back home to get his regular car before going to work. He gets to spend precious moments in the morning with his grandkids and make the best memories.
