Sarah Hornung is a mother of three but also a special education teacher, professional development specialist and the Director of Technology in K-12 education - impressive! She is also a blogger and she recently shared an amazing fridge hack that to help keep her kids fed, happy and healthy! The idea quickly went viral after she posted on it Facebook.

She wrote:

" Sunday self-serve is ready for the week. ??

After grocery shopping I always wash and prep all of the food that is considered self-serve in our house. Self-serve for my kiddos means help yourself without asking and it’s always an okay snack (any time of day, bedtime snacks, etc.) It also helps me when I’m packing lunches and snacks, or as a side dish when dinner doesn’t include something they will definitely eat or if we have a busy/late night. There’s something about having things truly ready to grab that makes kids eat it. I could leave the baby carrots in a bag or leave the grapes on the stems but they wouldn’t eat it. ??‍♀️

PS- For the fruits and veggies I do put covers on the containers so they don’t get gross. "

It is really brilliant! This way, you avoid kids constantly bugging you for a snack and they get to eat healthy foods. The kids get to pick what they want and will feel a sense of responsibility by making their own choices, and no need to worry because you are providing them with fresh fruits and vegetables and other healthy options!

It is also more economical than those pre-made snacks you can buy at the store. If you don't have kids, try this hack to help you eat healthier!

Another mom shared her own tip:

That is called commitment!

This other mom shared an easier alternative:

What do you think of this idea? It takes a bit of time but why not get the kids involved in the process?
