When doing the laundry, most of us are concerned with preserving the colors, not damaging the fibers, etc. But despite all our precautions, sometimes the fabrics, especially towels or sheets, come out stiff and rough. It’s not very pleasant!

Fortunately, there are tips to avoid this irritant. And we're not talking about adding fabric softener to the load!

Here are our tips:

Before starting the load of laundry:

Adjust the temperature so that it is not too high. Too much heat "stresses" the fibers and can be the cause of the hardness of the fabrics.

Set the centrifuge option to the low level. Because, although the most intense level shortens the drying time, it is also aggressive for the fabrics and hardens the fabric.

When drying, clothes should not be exposed to direct sunlight, except during the cooler hours of the day and cooler periods of the year, when the sun's rays are less strong.

Tips for softening laundry without fabric softener

White vinegar is an ally for all fabrics that are not delicate. From time to time, you can use a little as a replacement for regular fabric softener.

Just pour it into the detergent compartment. Or, 120 ml can be poured into the softener bowl before rinsing.

This product can dissolve zinc salts and aluminum chloride while removing dirt. In addition, it has antibacterial properties and it dissolves soap scum buildup in fabric fibers.

An economical product, which gives cleaner, hygienic, fragrant and softer laundry.

You can also use vinegar for a pre-wash by hand. Just pour a glass of it into two liters of water in a basin and let the fabrics soak in it overnight before launching a laundry as usual, ideally by opting for Marseille soap.

Vinegar

After washing:

Place your clothes in a basin of lukewarm water in which a cup of vinegar has been poured. Leave to sit for 20 minutes and air dry.

This process dissolves the build-up of alkaline soaps between the fibers, which relax and are therefore softer to the touch. The vinegar smell will disappear quickly, but if you prefer, you can add a few drops of essential oil to the scent of your choice.

Citric acid is another option. It works against limescale making the water less hard. Like vinegar, it reduces alkalis in detergents.

Dissolve 50 gr in half a liter of hot water and pour everything into the detergent drawer when washing.
