As most of us dispose of old scrap in the garbage which ends up at the landfill, Aloha, Oregon-based artist Brian Mock turns the scrap metal into fantastic outdoor sculptures. He collects used and discarded materials - like screws, nuts and bolts - and assembles them impressive large sculptures.

Mock discovered his love of upcycling art in the 1990s. He is completely self-taught and learned to weld himself, allowing him to visualize his artistic ideas as metal sculptures. Today he's creating an entire zoo of metallic animals - including larger-than-life dogs, cats and lions - all from 100% reclaimed material.

"My sculptures are made entirely from reclaimed items and repurposed materials (almost all metal but sometimes I’ll add bits of plastic for color). I like that people interact with them, they have fun looking for objects they can identify. It started as a hobby, but as I got better at sculpting, I turned it into a full-time profession,” told the artist Bored Panda.

"I’ve always loved the simple concept of making something new from something old," Mock explained how he started his unusual art. "It’s a fun creative challenge, and the bonus is that using scrap materials keeps it out of landfills. I hope my art encourages people to take their own creative measures to generate less waste." he said to Bored Panda
