Do you like date and would like to find a dessert with this fruit? We found the perfect dessert for you. This date cake is delicious, but with the caramel sauce it is totally succulent. No one will be able to resist it. The caramel sauce brings an extra touch of sweetness.

This cake is just excellent ... almost too good!

Ingredients

  • For the cake:
  • 1 cup of pitted dates, chopped
  • 1 tsp of baking soda
  • 3/4 cup of boiling water
  • 1/3 cup of butter
  • 3/4 cup of sugar
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup flour
  • For the sauce:
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup of butter
  • 2/3 cup of evaporated milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and butter an 8 inch square dish.
  2. In a bowl, mix the dates with the baking soda.
  3. Cover the dates with boiling water.
  4. In a bowl, cream 1/3 cup butter with the sugar.
  5. Add the eggs and whisk again.
  6. Stir in the dates with their water and the flour with a spatula.
  7. Pour the dough into the dish.
  8. Bake for 40 minutes.
  9. In a saucepan, combine brown sugar, 1/3 cup butter and evaporated milk.
  10. Bring to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes.
  11. Remove from heat and add vanilla.
  12. Pour over the cake
