We get it, summer nights can get really hot especially if you don't have an AC unit in your bedroom. You might might turn to the classic fan instead! So you spend the whole night with the fan on hoping it will help you cool down a bit so you can sleep all night. But is there any risks to this practice?

Well, there is nothing life-threatening about leaving the fan on all night but it could still be damaging to your health! Here are three reasons why you might want to think about it twice.

1. It is drying

Have you notice that you throat is scratchy and your mouth dry when you wake up? That is because sleeping with a fan on can be very drying. That is especially true if you are a mouth breather as the fan air will dry out your mouth even more.

It can also cause some dryness to your nose and eyes which could lead to redness.

In the long term, irritated nasal passages could lead to sinus congestion and nosebleeds.

2. It could trigger allergies and/or asthma

If you suffer from asthma or allergies, the overnight fan can trigger attacks. If you are not prone to asthma it could still be damaging and cause breathing problems, dry skin or even skin eruptions.

That is because of indoor exposure to dust, there is a lot of gross stuff floating around in a bedroom; dead skin cells, dust mite, spider webs and so on! Now imagine all these thing floating around as the fan spins all night.

3. It makes your body sore

Did you ever get a painful neck waking up in the morning? It could be the fan's fault! At a certain temperature, the air could cause your muscles to stiffen and contract and as we know, fans are shooting cool air all night!
