The best apple pie I've made!
2 Pies of 9-inch1/2 cup unsalted butter
3 tablespoons all purpose flour
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup water
8 apples (lobo, spartan, empire and cortland) - peeled and sliced
1- In a saucepan, melt the butter.Stir in flour to form a dough.
2- Add white sugar, brown sugar and water; bring to the boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
3- Meanwhile, place a pastry dough into a 9-inch pie plate. Fill with apples.
4- Cut the second dough into a strips, cover the apples.
5- Carefully pour the mixture over the crust.
6- Bake for 15 minutes at 425°F (220°C). Reduce temperature to 350°F (175°C) and continue to cook for 35 to 45 minutes.
