No matter what people say about sexual relationships, there is no 'quota' to reach, whether in terms of duration or frequency. But everyone wonders at some point what it's like for the neighbors!

Of course, what matters is that both partners feel comfortable in their 'habits' under the covers (or elsewhere!). There is no right or wrong frequency or way, as long as it suits the couple.

But one might wonder if there is an ideal frequency for intimacy to keep the relationship strong. And researchers wanted to verify that.

Researchers from the Kinsey Institute studied this topic and concluded that the ideal frequency for lovemaking, when one wants to strengthen the bond between a couple, depends on the age of the partners.

What's unfortunate is that they didn't gather any data for people aged over 49.

The average number of sexual intercourse:

The team of scientists conducted a study on sex, reproduction, and especially the frequency of sexual intercourse over an entire year.

The numbers presented are averages, so there's no need to put pressure on ourselves to increase or decrease the frequency of our encounters out of fear of being obsessed!

Here are the conclusions of this research:

From 18 to 29 years old: 112 sexual encounters per year, which is a little over twice a week

From 30 to 39 years old: 86 sexual encounters per year, which is a little over 1.5 times a week

From 40 to 49 years old: 69 sexual encounters per year, which is a little less than 1.5 times a week

Does your couple fit into the average? Shh! That's only for you and your partner!
