In the United States, a school in Las Vegas was the set of an adorable scene: a child refused to take off his mask for the school photo. The reason ? His mother told him never to take it off except for meals.

Since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, many health measures have been put in place to curb the spread of the virus, including wearing a mask. And the least we can say is that little Mason respects this instruction to the letter.

On September 20, the six-year-old boy refused to take off his surgical mask for his individual photo at school: “My mom told me never to take it off, except for meals and on condition that I am far from others,” he told the photographer.

"Are you sure you don’t want to take it off for 2 seconds?"  asked the photographer.

"No thank you, I always listen to my mom" replied Mason.

"Ok, say cheese!"

"I'm so proud of him for sticking to his word but I should have been more clear about my rules on this day," she captioned on a picture of her masked son. Unsurprisingly, her post quickly went viral as it garnered over 24,000 likes.

Sadly, Nicole, Mason's mother, lost her grandfather back in January who died from COVID-10.   "He was a very significant part of our life our daily life, so Mason was impacted, they've seen it firsthand," Nicole said. "So that experience really makes Mason want to wear his mask and know that it's protecting not only him but other people, his elders and other people around him."

In the comments, people praised her son's exemplary attitude: “You should be proud! It must be hard to stand up to an adult, but he had the confidence to stand up for what he thought was right. Good job mom! ".

According to the photo studio manager, Mason is not the only child who kept his mask on his nose during the class photo:

“This is not an isolated case, I have seen hundreds and hundreds of them this winter who refused to take it off. If they don't want it for health safety reasons, we don't force them, ”he told Good Morning America.

This story also has an incredible ending, besides the funny picture who will be the talk of many future family dinners. Mason was able to secure a college fund after people on the internet fell in love with his adorable character! "Adorable news alert: the internet has raised $27,000 for 6-year-old Mason's college fund after his school photo went viral for all the right reasons," the tweet from GoFundMe announced.
