  1. Start by making and peeling 12 hard-boiled eggs. Using a sharp knife, slice off a very thin layer from the base of the egg, so you create a flat surface hence the eggs won't roll around. Then, cut off the top third of each egg. and squeeze around the base gently to loosen the yolk (it should pop very easily). Don't forget to keep the lids together with their bases.
  2. Put all 12 cooked yolks in a medium mixing bowl and mash well with a fork. Then, add 1/3 cup mayonnaise, 1 tsp dijon (or according to taste), 1/4 tsp garlic powder and 1/8 tsp salt. You can always add more seasoning to taste. Make sure to mix everything together until the mixture is smooth. Transfer the mixture to a ziploc bag (snipping off the end) or a piping bag.
  3. Pipe the yellow mixture generously into egg bases. Place the tops back over the base and press down slightly so they adhere.
  4. To create the chicks eyes, cut off the ends of small raisins and add two small pieces on the front.
  5. To create the beaks, cut triangles out of carrot slices and press in the eggs for beaks. Also, add carrot matchsticks on the bottom to create the feet.

Some other interesting ideas:

Only cut half of the egg white off and leave the yolk out to make these adorable egg chicks.
