New trend among hen owners: KFC chicken coops!
Facebook - Backyard Poultry

Backyard chicken coops are becoming very popular and, like with everything, some enthusiasts show a lot of creativity and humor. This is how chicken coops resembling the famous Kentucky fried chicken restaurant franchise appeared.

These KFC creations are popular on social networks and we are likely to see more and more of them appear. A little ironic but funny idea, what do you think?

Here is a sample of some of the poultry shelters made under this humorous theme.

This KFC chicken coop shared on Facebook by Ash WoodWorks, has a swing screen door in an open area and a ramp for the chicken coop. Colonel Sanders has been stenciled on the red and white striped walls, and the letters "KFC" have been placed on the front door.

Woodworking Tips shared on Facebook a large KFC chicken coop with an “order here” sign and Colonel Sanders marquee on the fence behind.

New Zealand radio host Jon Dunstan is also a handyman who created a beautiful chicken coop under this theme, with a rooster weather vane perched atop a corrugated iron roof in red and white stripes. The structure is as tall as him but has a door that only poultry can pass through. Images of the co-op were shared via the show's webpage.

Also interesting is James Hughes' red and white striped two-tier chicken coop, posted on Facebook last month.

A Canadian red maple leaf sits above the door of David Day's PFK chicken coop in Pennsylvania, which was posted on Facebook. This one has two doors that a human can easily pass through, a large chicken coop, and even sliding windows. If the hens stop laying, Day could turn that into extra workspace!

Jackie Achilles, of the Backyard Poultry Group in Queensland, Australia, posted on Facebook a photo of an elaborate KFC chicken coop that was made by her uncle. Not only is there a photo of the Colonel on the side of the chicken coop and a chicken bucket on the roof, but there is also an attached egg storage chest that is labeled "Drive Thru, Butt Nuggets, 1 dozen $ 5. ".

Pinterest user Chris Luke posted a photo of a sleek and modern PFK chicken coop, writing "Luxury three-tier coop for my ladies."

And while not a KFC chicken coop, this "Chicks-wil-A" house posted on Country Living Magazine's Facebook page is also adorable. There are red gingham curtains on the windows, painted stepping stones leading to the front door, and potted plants for decoration. The publication featured the cooperative in its “48 DIY Chicken Coops” slideshow. This chicken coop was made from an old bunk bed and scrap metal. Clever and green!

Note that the conditions of chickens raised as meat for KFC are not so funny in some places. However, the company is committed to improving welfare standards by 2026, at least in the UK, and is considered by the global animal welfare group to be ahead of other chains fast food restaurants such as Domino's, McDonald's and Burger King.
