Prepare to be amazed by the most unique house in all the world

A house that looks like a snake.

Tips and Crafts

Rent on Airbnb

You can find everything on Airbnb. Some houses impress us by their size, others by their location but this one surprises us with its original architecture.

Do you like different experiences when it comes to sleeping in an accommodation? Let us suggest a stay in the snake-shaped house of Javier Senosiain on your next trip to Mexico.

Located just outside Mexico City, the sinuous and multicolored structure called Quetzalcoatl's Nido is covered with an almost mind-blowing combination of blues, greens, oranges and purples to help it blend into its lush environment (a difficult task for a house that looks like a huge reptile).

Prepare to be amazed!

The inspiration

The inspiration for the architect's unique vision came from an enormous cave opening that reminded him of a snake head. "One day, I thought the mouth of the cave looked like a snake's head with open jaws," said Senosiain. "We located it in the model and noticed that there appeared to be a virtual snake coming in and out of the field, so we decided to put a tail and call it Quetzalcoatl."

So what does it look like to spend the night in the belly of this gargantuan, animal-like house? Believe it or not, the inside of the "snake" house is completely opposite to its outside. There are five bedrooms, two common areas, four bathrooms, a living room, a kitchen, a dining room and a laundry room. The walls with white contours and wood accents give it an extremely polished and minimalist but interesting style, which gives a nice feeling of balance compared to the sensory overload that one is likely to feel looking at the house of the outside.

What do you say about this elegant kitchen? It has a small, eccentric side to it but everything is also very pleasing to the eye.

As you can see, the decor of the rooms is very clean. The tenants of this house can sleep in peace in this simple decor, contrasting with the outside.

I love this shower with the opening on the ceiling! I really did not expect such an interior, you?

$289 per night

For $289 a night, you can experience sleeping in the "snake" house. As this residence has several bedrooms and bathrooms, it can accommodate up to 8 vacationers. By dividing the cost between 8 people, the cost of sleeping here becomes much more affordable, that's for sure.
