On the sidelines of Prince Philip's funeral which took place this past Saturday, Queen Elizabeth II released an unseen photo of her and her husband.

"The Queen wishes to share this private photograph taken with The Duke of Edinburgh at the top of the Coyles of Muick, Scotland in 2003.

Her Majesty and the Royal Family are grateful for all the messages of condolence from around the world and have been touched to see and hear so many people sharing fond memories of The Duke, in celebration of his life," reads the post.  

In this photo, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip can be seen sitting in the grass with beautiful smiles on their faces. An intimate moment that was captured with simplicity.

The British royal family has posted numerous photos of Prince Philip on their Instagram account since the announcement of his death on April 9.

The funeral of Prince Philip took place last Saturday, April 17 at St. George's Chapel, in Windsor.
