This is how much water you should be having every day.

8 cups is a good amount, but not the optimal one for everybody! One size does not fit all!

Tips and Crafts

Everybody has heard that they should drink 8 to 10 cups of water per day. While that is a good amount, is it sufficient for you? Where does that number come from?

Well, you should know that the number is not entirely correct. The 8 glasses a day is more of a mid-range suggestion than an official rule. As we all know, all our organs consist of water and we do need water to make them function properly!

So how much water does your body need?

It depends of these six factors; sex and age, weight, environment, exercises, pregnancy and breastfeeding, and overall health condition. These are all key elements that influence how much water you should drink a day.

How to calculate the amount of water you need?

Rhitrition shared an amazing formula to help you calculate the amount of water you need in a day!

You simply have to multiply your total weight (in Kg) by 0.033.

For example, if you are 60kg, you need about 2 litres of water, at 90kg the daily amount is about 3 litres of water.

While this will give you a good idea of the amount, you should always listen to your body! Also, remember to start the day with some water on an empty stomach, it makes all the difference!

If you are not fond of water, you can find great substitutes. Think of fruits and vegetables such as watermelon, oranges, and cucumbers, these are basically more than 80% water!

There is always healthy drink options such as coconut water that can help you with your daily water intake. However, sports drinks contain tons of sugar and sodium and should never replace water!

Do the test! Do you drink enough water in a day? What is your magic number?
