Tim Davidson was considering buying a traditional house after living some time in his family's vacation home in Sarasota, Florida. However, when he realized that a large home also meant more taxes and more money, he had an amazing idea!
By purchasing a tiny house, he would get what he really wanted, only the necessities: a bedroom, living area, small kitchen, and access to the outdoors. The man bought Tiffany a 270-square-foot tiny house for about $70,000.
"I just dove right into the minimalism," said Davidson to the Insider. He estimates that he got rid of 80% of his stuff. Now, let's take a look inside the beautiful Tiffany!
The 1920s-Craftsman-style home is filled with lighting designed by Louis Comfort Tiffany. Look at these colourful glass light fixtures!
"It was like a calling to me," said the man to Insider when talking about the lights in the home.
The tiny house has two lofts, a full bathroom, a living area, and a kitchen.
For the first two years of his journey with Tiffany, Davidson moved between destinations, before he finally found the dream permanent space; Shellmate Island, a 1.5-acre island in Sarasota, Florida.
He purchased the tiny island for $200,000 two years ago. Davidson told Insider that "Shellmate Island had been for sale for years but the seller was asking for an astronomical price." However, after negotiations he was able to purchase it for about $200,000. He even gave a new name to the island: Rusty Gold. Mainly because it was overgrown and filled with old RVs.
The only problem Davidson had was the hurricane season. The man knew that Tiffany was probably not safe and wouldn't be able to survive Florida's worst weather. That is why he purchased a 320-square-foot tiny home for $90,000. The unusual octagon shape is specifically designed for hurricanes and strong winds.
The man has now two tiny houses on a tiny island! Some will say that he is living THE dream!
The inside of his second tiny house is beautiful! It includes a bedroom, a living room, bathroom, and kitchen. You can even rent it on Airbnb!
"I was nervous, but I was excited," said Davidson. "There are certain moments in life where you're like: 'OK, this is a big step. I'm doing something drastic in my life.'"
What do you think of his lifestyle? Would you swap your life for his?
