We are living in difficult times because of COVID-19. But most of the people of our country still have a quite comfortable life besides the unhappiness. Almost all of us have a roof over our heads and a place where we are confined.

As a result, many tend to forget that around the world thousands of people do not have the chance to rest in a cozy nest after a hard day. Nor in a nest at all...

These people would give a lot to live in a house like ours, even if we can complain... with a full stomach.

The following story will reminds us all of our luck.

A lawyer from Bolivia, Ingrid Vaca Diez, has always been close to the homeless. This is how she decided to start a project to improve their lives.

The lady founded the Casas de Botellas (bottle house) project, the main objective of which is to make houses with reusable materials and to fight against pollution caused by plastic. To build these houses, its materials are plastic or glass bottles, cement, lime, sand, sediment and organic waste.

She built her first house in 2000. The houses in question measure 170 square meters and required around 36,000 bottles! She aims to build them in just 20 days, enlisting the help of their future occupants.

In the past 20 years, her project has built more than 300 houses. These homes have transformed the lives of many people living in Latin countries such as Argentina, Mexico, Panama, Uruguay and Bolivia. Ms. Diaz can't handle more than one project at a time, but the locals have learned how to build their own houses from her.

“This is an invaluable action, we should all have a home, a place where we can feel safe and where our families and people can come together. Unfortunately, this right is denied to many people, but it is very motivating to see that part of the population is trying to transform this reality, ” explains the generous lawyer.

This woman can be proud of giving so many people hope and dignity.

Her story teaches us that even under the worst conditions, problems can lead to good solutions: without building knowledge and without a lot of funds, she has managed to make other people's dreams come true.
