Did you know that your washing machine should be cleaned several times a year to prevent bad odors caused by mold? Washing in a washing machine that smells moldy is like washing your teeth while eating Oreo: it worsens the situation by transmitting the smell to clothes, towels, sheets ...

As molds accumulate in the door seal rubber, there is only one solution: use pure bleach. Vinegar is not powerful enough in this case.

Take a towel or a thick cloth soaked in hot water, place it in the rubber of the door and pour some bleach on it.

Rub the rubber with the cloth, rinse the cloth with very hot water, put some bleach on it, place it in the seal, stretch it, so it touches the whole area and let it for about 1 hour.

After one hour, rub with the cloth on the mildew stains and rinse.

If it still remains, take a toothbrush, soak it in the bleach and rub directly on the resistant stains.

When the rubber is clean, rub with a dry cloth to remove any residue.

To prevent mildew coming back, wipe the rubber with a dry cloth after each wash and leave the door open between washes.

It is also necessary to regularly wash inside the washing machine.

Pour 1 liter of white vinegar into the bowl of your front-loading washing machine. If you have a top-loading washing machine, start the longest cycle at the highest temperature, then add the vinegar while the tank fills.

Add a cup of baking soda and start the longest cycle at the highest temperature.

Let it work for one minute, then stop the cycle to let it rest for 1 hour.

After 1 hour, allow the cycle to complete.

For a very clean washing machine, especially if you have never done it before, repeat the process a secondtimewith vinegar and baking soda.

Remember to check if the soap compartment can be removed: it will be easier to wash it if it is removed, especially since mold and dirt may have accumulated behind the compartment. If it cannot be removed, take a toothbrush to eliminate anything you see.

When cleaning is complete, wipe the tank and rubber with a cloth and leave the door open until the next wash.

It is also necessary to wash the dishwasher, for the same reasons!
