Here is how to make your own Cadbury eggs!

Every year before Easter, they get put out on store shelves. This tradition is one that many fans look forward to.

The famous Cadbury eggs; chocolate outside and creamy inside. They are very difficult to resist and can ruin you in the long run!

So, why not prepare our own eggs, when we want, to savour as many as we want? Or to give as a gift, if we manage not to eat them all! A recipe to test this!


  • 1/4 cup (60 mL) softened unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) vanilla
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) light corn syrup
  • 750 ml (3 cups) icing sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1.25 g) salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) yellow food coloring
  • 2/3 lb (300 g) 70% dark chocolate, chopped into pieces

Steps to follow:

  1. In a bowl, mix butter with vanilla, corn syrup and salt. Gradually add the icing sugar and mix until smooth.
  2. Transfer 1/3 of the preparation to another bowl and incorporate the yellow food coloring.
  3. Cover the two bowls. Place the preparation with the yellow dye in the freezer and refrigerate the white preparation for 30 minutes.
  4. Shape 15 balls using about 1 teaspoon (5 g) of yellow dye preparation for each.

  1. Place the balls on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and place in the freezer for 30 minutes until firm.
  2. Coat each yellow ball with about 4 teaspoons (20 g) of white preparation and shape the preparation to give it an oval shape.

  1. Place in the freezer again for 30 minutes.
  2. In a double boiler, melt the chocolate without stirring.
  3. Using a fork, dip the eggs one by one into the chocolate

  1. Refrigerate for 2 to 3 hours.
