Do you have Epsom salt at home? Epsom salt, which is actually magnesium sulfate, contains important minerals such as magnesium and sulfur that can be beneficial in many situations. You can find them at the pharmacy and in the supermarkets.

Splinters

To remove a splinter easily, add Epsom salt in lukewarm water, plunge the injured hand and wait for a few minutes. You can then remove the splinter easily!

Bruising

You will be able to make disappear more quickly your bruises making a paste with Epsom salt and a little bit of water. Apply the paste on the bruise and leave it like this for several minutes. A bath containing Epsom salt will also help your bruises to disappear. 

Sprains and muscle pain

In case of injury - sprains and muscle aches - or after a long day of walking, add 2 cups of Epsom salt to the bath water, or 1 cup in a basin to soak your feet. Epsom salt will help reduce swelling, relieve pain and help you sleep better afterwards!

Headaches, stomach aches

Headache? Hungover? Stomach or liver upside down? Add 1 teaspoon of Epsom salt to a cup of water and drink the mixture. The magnesium contained in the salt will help your body to recover.

Laundry Softener

Mix 1 cup of Epsom salt with 10 drops of essential oil of your choice: add ¼ cup to your laundry to soften your clothes and use it as a fabric softener.

Clean the washer

The washer tank should be cleaned from time to time to remove residual odors. Pour 1 cup of Epsom salt into the tank and run a cycle with hot water to clean and refresh the tank once every 2 months or more often if you want.

Exfoliating

Epsom salt is an excellent exfoliator, even for the face. Simply add to your usual cleansing cream, rub your skin with this mixture and rinse. Your skin will never have been so soft!

Blackheads

Epsom salt is an excellent exfoliant, it is perfect to eliminate your spots. Wash your face regularly with it. You can also mix one tablespoon of Epsom salt, 1 drop of iodine and ½ cup of boiling water. Let it cool, then soak a cotton in this mixture and apply the cotton on the blackheads.

Hair

Your hair is too greasy? Add Epsom salt to your shampoo and wash your hair as usual. Your hair is frizzy? Add Epsom salt to your conditioner (1 part salt per 1 part of conditioner), apply it to your hair and scalp and rest for 20 minutes. Rinse with water. Not only will the frizz have been eliminated, but your hair will still have a nice volume!
