To disinfect your mattress and pillows: try to opt for natural methods. Let's try to avoid chemicals that do not respect the environment.
Having an impeccable room and bed without dust mite is almost unthinkable. Even the cleanest people will never manage to eliminate any traces of dust mite.
That's why we suggest natural methods to disinfect your mattress and pillows. This cleaning should not be overlooked as dust mites can trigger or develop respiratory diseases such as asthma and allergies.
How to disinfect a mattress:
1) To begin with, contrary to what we have been taught all our lives, we should not make our bed when waking up. We should let our sheets and blankets breathe.
Leave your bed open to sunlight. As the sun is the number one enemy of microbes, you will eliminate all those in your bed.
2) Use baking soda and disinfectant essential oils.
In a bowl, add 30g (2 tbsp) baking soda, 2 drops of thyme essential oil, 2 drops of tea tree essential oil and 2 drops of lavender essential oil.
Mix all the ingredients, put them in a sieve and sprinkle over the mattress. Leave on for 2 hours and vacuum all over the mattress.
This cleaning should be done every 3 months
To disinfect pillows:
Use baking soda and white vinegar
1) Add 50g (1/2 cup) baking soda and 10mL (2 tsp) white vinegar in your water-filled washer with 2 pillows before starting a normal cycle.
Then let the pillows dry in the sun to remove any stains, destroy all germs and remove any moisture in the pillows.
A clever idea is to disinfect your mattress and pillows the same day.
