The best caramel spread, is certainly this one! A pure delight.
1/4 cup of butter, unsalted
1 1/4 cup of brown sugar
1/2 cup of milk
3/4 cup of corn syrup
1 can (300 ml) of sweetened condensed milk
In water-bath, melt the butter and add all the ingredients. Mix. Cook over low heat, uncovered for 20 minutes.
Cover and continue cooking for 40 minutes. NEVER MIX caramel when cooking.
Remove from heat and let stand for 5 minutes.
With a wooden spoon, stir the caramel about 1 to 2 minutes.
Pour the caramel into pots and transfer to the refrigerator for a minimum of 2 hours, the caramel will thicken while cooling.
