Ultra soft chocolate cake, without egg, milk and butter!

Many years ago, times were more difficult than now, some more expensive products became rare. But the cake has always had its place on the table! A recipe like in old time ... without butter, milk and eggs!


For the cake:
● 2 cups all purpose flour
● 1 1/4 cup sugar
● 1 1/4 cup water
● 1/2 cup vegetable oil
● 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
● 1 tablespoon white vinegar
● 1 tablespoon black coffee, optional
● 1 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
● 1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
● 3/4 teaspoon salt


● 2 1/2 to 3 cups caster sugar
● 1 cup unsweetened cocoa
● 1/3 cup of water
● 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, room temperature
● 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
● 1 pinch of salt


Preheat oven to 375 degrees F and grease 2 round 9-inch pans.

In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt.

Add water, oil, vinegar, tea and vanilla.

Pour the mixture into the 2 cake moulds

Bake for 24 to 26 minutes.

In the bowl of your blender, add the powdered sugar, cocoa powder and salt. Add water, softened butter and vanilla extract, whisk until smooth and creamy.

Remove the cake from the oven and let to cool before freezing.
